We would like to introduce you to Chadderton Amateur Swimming Club, a club which has been in existence for over 100 years, and whose main claim to fame is Henry Taylor, an Olympic Champion. In 2006 the club achieved Swim 21 status which is the recognised ‘Clubmark’ for swimming clubs, and ensures that the club has achieved, and must continue to meet, high standards in all areas. You will see several logos used on club letters and kit, the most recent of these being ‘Awards for All’, as the club was successful in gaining an award of over £5000 for further development.

The main club night for new swimmers is Tuesday in the new Henry Taylor pool at the Chadderton Wellbeing centre. New swimmers are also invited to Failsworth pool on Thursdays. More advanced swimmers have sessions at Chadderton on Monday, Tuesday and Friday, and Thursday.

During the year, we hold our own Club Galas, where children compete in 4 strokes over 3 distances. Medals and certificates are awarded at a Presentation Evening later in the year. Chadderton ASC competes in Central Lancashire league galas – Junior, Senior, Intermediate and Jubilee Leagues, and also the National Arena Swimming League North West. In the Oldham Metropolitan Association, the club competes in the Winter League, Aqua Gala and the Oldham Championships.

Swimmers are also encouraged to compete in the Warburton’s and Preliminary Competition open events, and the Central Lancashire Championships.

For swimmers who achieve an appropriate level, the club may recommend further training with the OCLL’s Advanced Training scheme. (A.T.S.) Chadderton A.S.C. has worked hard in promoting the image of the club, and the children are encouraged to purchase swimwear and accessories.

There is also a good social side of our club, including Presentation Evening with potato pie supper, and a Christmas party, with gifts for all children.
